Our PACFA Accredited Post Graduate Professional Training in Holistic Counselling & Psychotherapy (PTP) offers you an opportunity to excel in your chosen field with confidence and ability. This course is specifically designed for a robust professional training in counselling and psychotherapy however the techniques are adaptable to a wide variety of applications.

During this course you will develop an enriched understanding of the subtle relationship between your self and your world. These insights will expand your perspective, ensuring your work will also help others to connect more deeply with themselves and their communities.

More and more clients of today are asking for an integrated holistic approach to matters of health and well-being. The Metavision graduate practitioner will be there to meet this emerging need.

This course has been developed from a unique combination of philosophies and practices that best unite a holistic understanding of human life. From the new sciences of the heart, brain and biology we explore the mind-body connection. We link this to our understanding of the subtle energies of the body, consciousness studies, and process-oriented psychology.

Inner work and developing self awareness is central to our approach. No matter how skilled are the hands that use the tools, it is the person who uses the tools that makes all the difference. (Christina Nielsen, Founder of Metavision)

From a philosophical base and experiential work, we have developed learning practices that enable our graduates to adapt to the needs of each individual client, supporting them as they discover the unique steps needed for their own healing and development.

So we don’t rely on workbooks. Instead we have created a warm and hospitable learning community where experience, dialogue and creativity are valued. Deep listening creates an environment where authentic stories set the scene for the deepening of knowledge. Theory emerges into action.

“What is within surrounds you” - RM Rilke

We use Process Oriented Psychology and the deep democracy of Arnold Mindell, uniting quantum physics, Eastern philosophy and Jungian depth-psychology. Combined with Spiritual Science and teachings of Rudolf Steiner, this provides a pathway to the deeper realms of Soul and Spirit. It gives a solid foundation on which the student can build a toolkit of experience to form a truly holistic approach to their work.

Join a vibrant network of counsellors and psychotherapists across Australia. We encourage participation in the professional community through local associations and the umbrella organisation of PACFA.

The PTP is taught as a mix of intensives, distance education and online course material. We are based in the Sydney-Canberra region of Bowral in the Southern Highlands.

Entry Requirements

This is a professional post-graduate training course and requires students to have a relevant undergraduate degree. It is preferable for students to have had some clinical experience. For those students whose undergraduate degree is not related to Counselling and Psychotherapy or those who do not have basic counselling skills or clinical experience but have experience working with people, an extra module on basic counselling skills is required prior to starting the course.

If the applicant has no undergraduate qualification then they require a minimum of 10 years of clinical experience in order to qualify.

Basic Counselling Skills

Students with no prior counselling skills will be required to attend a 2 day workshop on Basic Counselling Skills. This is usually held immediately before the commencement date of the PTP. Students are assessed during the interview process to ascertain if they need to attend this course.

Attendance

At least 80% of face-to-face teaching hours are required unless you have pre-arranged RPL (recognized prior learning).  If you are unable to attend any of the classes it is a requirement that you contact us and advise.

Enrolment Procedure

  1. Prospective Student submits an application form along with $150 application fee
  2. Metavision contacts to arrange an interview with the Academic Director including time and method (phone, skype or in person). The interview provides a taste of the way we work and also assess your readiness for the course.
  3. Interview is conducted and upon acceptance a Student Pack is issued via post.
  4. Forms from Student Pack are completed, signed and returned to Metavision.
  5. The $500 deposit is paid to secure the place in the course. Ideally this is paid when the forms are returned or at least 1 month prior to commencement. NB: Students are not considered fully enrolled in the course and the position cannot be guarenteed until this payment is received.
