Counselling & Communication Skills Training

(1 year | Skills Training | Intakes in March, May & July | $2970)

The Counselling and Communication Skills Training Course (CCS) will cultivate and sharpen your individual insights and refine vital communication skills necessary in the modern world. You will gain a strong foundation in counselling that can lead on to professional training or bolster work in any profession where human connections and human values are central to success.

The course involves a self-development process with a sound spiritual foundation that grounds students in self-assurance and develops self-awarenes. Relationships in both the workplace and their personal lives will be enhanced as a result. The course incorporates a grounded working knowledge of the physical, psychological and spiritual aspects of the human being, integrating the subtle energies both within and outside the body.

During the course you will gain an understanding of the principles of the Metavision Institute’s unique model of counselling, enabling you to apply Holistic Counselling skills and understand authenticity in relationships. You will also gain tools to support your ongoing self development, self-awareness and emotional intelligence.

For those wishing to embark on a career in counselling, psychotherapy or related field who do not have the required prior experience and training to be accepted into the Professional Training in Holisitic Counselling and Psychotherapy Diploma (PTP). This course fulfils the requirements and can be seen as a bridging course into the PTP. For more information please feel free to contact the Institute.

At the Metavision Institute we focus on a holistic view of the human being. You will be introduced to the profound philosophies of Rudolf Steiner, Martin Burber, Marshall Rosenburg and many others. You will discover, for example, how the ideas and practices of non-violent communication can be used to create harmony and understanding within changing relationships. We will also examine the micro skills of counselling: active listening, empathy, unconditional positive regard, quality of relationship, challenging and presence.

Insight into others flows from self-knowledge. We want to empower our students in all aspects of self-awareness and awareness of others, using training in observation, meditation and mindfulness and the use of journaling and artistic activities as self-reflective tools. Experiential exercise and practice within a supportive environment is an essential part of this module. The basics of academic reading, researching, writing, referencing and editing will be introduced.
